The high water in July has damaged Cascadas Micos.  There was a report that Ciudad Valles recieved it's annual rainfall during a period of just three hours and that is just some of the rain it received in early July.  It seems that the damage is to the structures built for tourism but the extent of the damage will not be known until the water levels drop.  The water reached two meters into the infrastructure.  All recreational activities are canceled for the time being.

Thank you for keeping us all up to date!  To train for this upcoming season of Mexican whitewater adventures I planned a trip for my kayak instructors to the nearby Huasteca area for last week, and those who could make it had a great time!  Sure, when you get down towards the end of the rivers like near Ciudad Valles they are high, but the upper drainages of Rio Valles (Salto), and the Gallenas (San Nicolas and Ojo Frio) are running clear and beautiful.  Micos looked very doable, but the junta there will not allow access in boats.  I'll be taking some saws down in the next couple of weeks to clear out some of the downed trees, but found the conditions to be much more hospitable than I expected for how soon after the flooding I was there.  In fact the water was very clear on these rivers, the roads have been repaired with gravel, and half of the road to Tamul is now paved!  So come to Mexico, and plan to keep coming well into next spring because there is plenty of water (but not too much). . .

The put in at the hydro plant is, (the one with the steps down to the river) in now fenced off with chain link and barbed wire.

Dont worry about the fence, the electricity company put it because some villagers started to build a restaurant close to the steps then they decided to close it to avoid them puting the materials and keep building it, but if you follow the fence you will find the old steps and you can go through there.
