Ever wonder about the river that joins just before the end of the Barranca Grande?  This is the Río Sordo which is below the Río Xico/Teocelo.  It is an interesting class IV run with perhaps one class V rapid and has the feel of a creek run.  The water quality is poor (one person became sick after running it twice).  Water level in the area was pretty low.  This run probably would be more difficult at higher water levels since it is pretty steep.

My recollection is that the turn-off to the put-in is about 15 km from Jalcomulco just before climbing up out of the canyon into a populated area.  There is a hillock with a tree on top at the turn-off.  Turn left (coming from Jalcomulco) and follow the road.  It will split and you should take the lower, left fork.  At the end of the road there is a path.  Follow the path for a ways and then you will need to leave the path and head down to the river.  The take-out is the same as for the Barranca Grande.
