Hi

A few friends and I are traveling over to Mexico from the UK for three weeks from the 23rd of November.  We're gonna start off around Valles staying with Huxteca Expediciones (paddle the Micos / Salto/ Santa Maria) then travel down to Aventurec to paddle the Filo Bobos / Alsessca and finally finish off the last three or four days in Jalcomulo to boat on the Antigua. We're a group of class 4 (occasionally harder) boaters.

We've got the logistics of it all pretty much sorted.  Just got a couple of questions.

Firstly what kind of paddling gear should we be bring - ie how warm is it going to be?  We believe the water is quite warm, what about air temps?  We weren't going to bring dry tops / dry suits etc just semi dry / splash type gear.  Are we good to go with this?

Secondly we've managed to sort everything out apart from the last couple of days around the Antigua.  Who should we speak to arrange transport / shuttles in this area?  We've got a couple of non paddlers in our group and we were thinking about trying to do some kind of overnight trip were they could raft the river as we paddle down.  Does any one know of someone who can arrange this?

If anyone has any top tips etc for us that would be great or any river sections that are perhaps lesser known that we should do, that would be great.

Thanks

Bob

Hi Bob,
You can check with the outfitters to find shuttle drivers.  I assume you will be renting a vehicle.  If you bring your own vehicle, technically you are not allowed to let anyone else drive the vehicle in Mexico unless you are in it. However, I have not had problems with this.
If you get this message in time, let me know since I'd like to hook up with some boaters for the next couple weeks: Moctezuma, Amajac, Filo-Bobos.  Today is Nov28. You can call me from a phone in Mexico on my Mexican cell: 442-144-8979.  I'm currently in Queretaro.
