A 'Carpintero Real' was reported to have been discovered in the Reserva Ecologica de Tancojol.  This is the Ivory Bill Woodpecker that was discovered about 2005 by a kayaker in eastern Arkansas after having thought to be extinct.  They were thought to be extinct in Mexico since the 1970s.  Although they have been sighted, there are no photos or videos of the sighting.  The reserve is on the left bank of the Rio Moctezuma in the eastern part of the municipality (county) of San Vicente Tancuayalab.

[update: someone who is much more knowledgeable about birds tells me this might actually be the Imperial Woodpecker which is very similar to the Ivory Bill.  It is also the largest woodpecker in the world.]
